A MULTITUDE OF LENS OPTIONS...
Our optical offers the latest in lens technology from lens coatings to progressives and everything in between. There are several brands of anti-reflective coatings available to our patients, including the industry leader, Crizal. Anti-reflective coatings (a.k.a. anti-glare coatings) help reduce glare and resist scratches, smudges, dust, water and UV rays.
Progressive lenses (a.k.a. no line bifocals) are used for seeing in the distance, at the computer, and reading. The progressives available in our office offer the latest advances in optics and cater to each person's unique habits. With the newer designed lenses, wearers will no longer see edge distortion found with older, standard progressives.
Although progressive lenses are a newer technology, lined bifocals are still a popular choice for many patients. Traditional bifocals offer both clear distance and reading vision, while lined trifocals offer some of the same benefits as a progressive with distance, intermediate and near vision.
With a growing dependence on computers and smartphones, our society is spending more time in front of a monitor or screen. Recent studies have shown a correlation between eye disease and prolonged electronic screen time. The culprit is the harmful, high energy blue light emitted to backlight the screen. However, lens technology is catching up with these problems in the form of blue light blocking lenses. These lenses work by selectively deflecting harmful blue light and UV radiation while allowing beneficial light to pass through. Our optical offers blue light blocking lenses, including some of the industry's best brands in BluTech and the Blue Essential Series.
Some patients have higher prescriptions requiring thicker lenses. Fortunately, our optical offers mid and high index lenses to reduce the weight and thickness of these prescriptions. The use of high index lenses helps with lens aesthetics and helps with patient comfort by reducing the weight of the frame.
Our optical offers scratch coatings to prevent those unwanted scratches, including the industry leader, TD2 coat. Most scratch coats come with a two year warranty to replace your lenses if any scratches occur.
A popular alternative to sunglasses are Transitions, which adjust tint with changes in sunlight. For example, the lenses turn into sunglasses while outside in direct sunlight and convert back to clear lenses when back inside. Our optical offers Transitions and Transitions XtraActive.
